A cool way for scrap cars to end up!

Cool Characters From Scrap

I just came across an interesting piece in the news, where scrap metal form cars is being transformed into a school kids dream! Mai Sudaj has started to sculpt figures such as the Terminator, Robocop, predator and alien in his workshop, selling them for up to £5,000 to customers all over the world!

The figures are created from the scrap body work of cars such as BMW’s Mercedes, Hondas, and Toyotas, and the workshop now employs over a dozen people due to the demand for the sculptures. Each sculpture can take over two months to create as some of the sculptures such as the alien above are over eight feet tall!

The parts that have been collected to create these sculptures, such as chains, exhaust pipes and carburettors are cleaned of dust and grease before being set on fire to burn off any fuel, they are then covered in lacquer for their protection. The parts of steel involved are then welded together whilst the aluminium parts are then screwed into place with the sculpture weighing in at up to 1100lbs!.

The company behind these sculptures have made hundreds of different characters from many of people’s favourite films including- Alien, Queen Alien, Species, Predator, Hellboy, Optimus Prime and BumbleBee from transformers, and the T-800 from Terminator, along with some of the star wars favourites like Darth Vader, Batle Droid, R2D2, Storm Trooper’s and Boba Fett.

The artists at the workshop are passionate about the the work they do and like to put their own spin on famous characters recycled from scrap metal.

If you are interested in any of the models that this workshop creates or can create, you can find more information about them by viewing their scrap metal sculptures on their website through the link provided.
